Nokia Lumia 955 by nik255 Nokia Lumia 955 by nik255
The Lumia 955 runs with Windows PRT, the next Windows for ARM based phones, tablets and phablets. Instead of Windows Phone and Windows RT there is only Windows PRT from now on. It allows higher display resolutions, devices with on-screen virtual buttons and better support for new technology. More features like using a digital ink on a phone or phablet and much more options for customization (more colors, more tile sizes etc.) are also included. Additionally Windows PRT contains a Notification Corner, which gives the user an overview on settings and current releases such as messages, e-mails, updates or events. The integrated desktop environment (new function: run apps in the X Window mode) of Windows RT will also be available to phones and phablets. Furthermore Windows PRT allows you to use your phone, tablet or phablet as a computer (requirements: docking station, external display, keyboard and mouse). Windows PRT is the possibility of using mobile devices as an efficient tool for everyday office work.

Specifications

The Lumia 955 is made on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 805, 4 GB DDR3-RAM, 5.5″ PureMotion HD++ ClearBlack Super-Sensitive IPS display with 1440 x 2560 pixels (538 ppi) and it houses a 4000 mAh replaceable battery, which can be charged wirelessly. Moreover it has USB 3.0, Mini Display Port Video, Wi-Fi (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth v4.0 with A2DP, LTE 4G, NFC, A-GPS + Glonass, HD front camera with 5 MP wide angle and 41 MP PureView camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Backside-illuminated image sensor, 6 lens optics (Carl Zeiss), auto/manual focus, Xenon + Dual LED flash and 1080p video at 30 fps. The built-in sound chip and the stereo speakers come from 'Monster Cable Products' and they are a new part of Nokia Purity series. So you can enjoy big sound from your Lumia. The device comes with 32 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB of internal memory. Additionally it has a MicroSDXC slot for optional memory expansion.
The special feature is the digital ink stylus with highly precise pen inputs (1024 levels of pressure sensitivity), which allows you to take notes, sketches etc.

What do you think about it?

I would be very grateful if one or the other could give a feedback. If you like my concept, share it ;) Thanks in advance :)

538ppi? r u joking? Tegra 4 good (a 64-bit chip would be better, tbh), 2GB RAM good (but eventually 4GB will be the norm, as unfortunate as that sounds), 1440p 5.5" screen.... even 1080p at that size would be nothing but a pointless spec gimmick (it would take a 1080p screen 6.4 inches to be anything but pointless numbers, as 344ppi is the "retina ceiling", and anything denser than that will be perceived the same by the human eye) so 1440p would be even more pointless... just something for fanboys to fap to.

and i'd rather a 6.4" 1080p phablet over a 5.5" 1440p anyday

No, I'm not joking ;) lgdnewsroom.com/press_releases… As you can see, there will be devices with such a high display resolution in the near future. You think it's only a "pointless spec gimmick", but there are enough people who buy a device because of this "pointless" spec. However I agree with you that a 64-bit SoC and 4 GB of RAM would be better.

im afraid they aren't buying them for any noticeable superiority of the display (unless they have 20-10 vision, then they'd notice the pixels on a "Retina Display"), they're just buying the phones cuz all the manufacturers wanna sell flagship devices with "the latest and greatest" as they're wrongly afraid of Apple.

(looks at article) O_O wow. lg is utterly terrified of apple, so they wanna beat them the only way they know: higher pixel density than the iPhone (to the average human eye, a galaxy s4 is just as sharp as an iPhone 4)

the android makers really are pissing their diapers over the iPhone XD... sigh, if only they had more faith in windows phone, or would learn their lesson once ubuntu for phones is put out.

The stylus - how badly I want a smaller companion device to my Surface Pro with a digital ink stylus! :faint: Everything else looks great as well, but I am sure you know that.

Especially now with the announcement of such devices. I expect Nokia to produce something not so far off from this in the near future.
